With a look and tone very much in line with the last season of ‘Castle Rock’, in which J.J. Abrams, the series follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he teams up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and his uncle George (Courtney B. (Michael Kenneth Williams). ‘Lovecraft Country’ takes the forms of a kind of road movie in which it struggles to survive and overcome the racist terrors of white America join the terrifying monsters that could have come out of an H.P. Lovecraft, whose controversial biography locates the origin of some of his monsters in racism. The first wild trailer features human and inhuman monsters, combining racial drama with chaos of nameless creatures. ‘Lovecraft Country’ has Misha Green as executive producer who will also be a showrunner, along with JJ Abrams, Jordan Peele, Bill Carraro, Yann Demange (who directs Episode 1), Daniel Sackheim (who directs Episodes 2 and 3) and David Knoller (Executive Producer in Episode 1).
