BuzzFeed journalist Alex Kantrowitz, in his book “Always Day One: How the Tech Titans Plan to Stay On Top Forever”, explained that Zuckerberg’s matchmaking app was matching his wife while they were researching Facebook Dating. According to information in Kantrowitz’s book, Facebook CEO Zuckerberg signed up to all matchmaking services to do research for Facebook Dating. While Zuckerberg tried an app that allows only 1 person a day, he matched his wife’s friend. ‘I’ll have dinner with him tomorrow night!’ In an interview for Kantrowitz for his book, Mark Zuckerberg said, “I was showing one of the apps to Priscilla. It was an app that you only matched with 1 person a day. I said, ‘This is the app,’ and he said to me, ‘Hey, I’ll have dinner with him tomorrow night!’ ” . While Zuckerberg showed the app, his wife, Priscilla, saw his friend on the screen and said he was going to have dinner with him the next evening. Kantrowitz notes that there was no explanation as to how Priscilla and her friend had dinner. Facebook Dating was announced at the F8 developer conference in 2018. Designed to compete with popular apps like Tinder and Bumble, the matchmaking service has been launched in over 20 countries so far.
